NAS(Network Attached Storage).
NASを購入しました。I-O- DATAのHDL-GS1.0。
Amazon.co.jp

Network troubles in China

Both flickr.com and shanghaidiaries.com are slow to load for some in Shanghai, China. Both are suffering from severe packet loss in the same place on the network.
I sent the following emails to the admin for the China Telecom (in Chinese and English) as well as Sprint SprintLink.

Admin:
I am US based web hosting provider and one of my clients is based in
Shanghai, China. Over the course of the last few months, my client has
experienced slow load times and high packet loss when he attempts to
connect to the server. My datacenter has verified that packet loss is
not in their network.
They performed the following mtr traceroute from the datacenter to
client’s ip and it revealed significant packet loss on your network.
Can you please look into this? I have attached the mtr traceroute
below. If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate
to let me know. Thanks.
The server is based in Lansing, Michigan, United States
(host.hirefrank.com – 209.59.137.186)
My client’s ip address is 218.1.0.237.
Thanks,
Frank Harris

Mac Mini in my geeked-out home network

Yes, I know the wires are out of control, but it’s a lovely system and the hub of a super-fast home network with all the bells and whistles. The Mac Mini is the workhorse of this network. I would happily buy an upgrade to a faster CPU with more interfaces.
On the screen is the web interface for my Denon receiver. Now it should make sense why I want every device on my entertainment network to have a web interface. I originally thought I would use the web interface from my MacBook laptop, but now I’m almost exclusively using it from the Sony big screen.

How affiliate networks are working for merchants

Image by Matthieu Dejardins, eCommerce Activist
Illustration from the following post: Affiliation Program: motivations, EPC, top 20 publishers & network comparison.
A transaction fee (also sometimes call an “affiliate override”) is what you pay your affiliate network. It is normally calculated as a percentage of each affiliate payment subtracted from your account. You can think of it as of a credit card processing fee.
The affiliate network’s transaction fee is normally a percentage of what you pay your affiliate.
The exact percentage varies from 20% to 30% depending on the network. If you agree to pay affiliates 10% of each referred order, on each 0 order sent in, you pay them , the affiliate network charges you addition 20-30% of the that you pay your affiliate.
