It started with Laptops, then there were Notebooks and now netbooks are the thing to have…

I wonder if there ever will be something like a fingertop or a fingerbook.

anyhow I suspect the usability will suffer from the dwarfish size of such a device.

running the OLPC / One Laptop Per Child OS, sugar, on my acer aspire one, thanks to sugarlabs’ sugar on a stick

note to self: this would be a good candidate for some HDR tests…the very bright screen and the overall darkness of the room make the dynamic range far too great to capture adequately in a single shot…

I think it’s safe to say that the Toshiba Libretto series was the one of the first umpc/netbook. The Libretto 50 supposed to come with Pentium 75mhz cpu, 16mb ram, 800mb hdd, however,
this particular example is a late production model and by the time it was being made, Intel has already stopped making the 75mhz Pentium, so what did Toshiba do? They put a 120mhz Pentium in it and *underclock* it back to 75mhz. You may have guess it, some clever hackers figure this out and a little bit of soldering later, we have 120mhz Libretto 50s.

Compared to my first laptop, huge and heavy. The idea was to get me a real portable computer, that I could carry pretty effortlessly and discretly. The thing is, I’ve been so swamped in work I haven’t even had the chance to play with it… :-(
