LG 102 Inch Plasma HDTV

So it seems like in addition to Samsung and Panasonic trying to claim rights for the world’s largest Plasma HDTV for their 102 and 103 inch models respectively, one more company is also claiming the title of the largest Plasma HDTV, LG. I had a chance to stop by and take a look at LG’s 102 incher and have to say that of the three ultra large mammoth football field style Plasmas, I thought theirs had the best picture. The price? No price. The LG rep that I talked to said that it was a prototype model and that they would be sold individually. Apparently it will not even be available inside the U.S. Standing next to this mammoth wall sized plasma was pretty cool and I suppose when you got an extra half mil around and can afford something like that it would be fun.
LG did also show me their 71 inch Plasma HDTV which actually is available. The unit was pretty slick, had a great picture. You can actually buy this one today if you happen to have an extra ,000 laying around. Ouch. You could get like 25 Canon EOS 5D’s for that price!

Channel Master 4228 UHF 8-Bay HDTV Antenna (with lightning rod). This is getting the job done for me on the 2nd story roof, with the transmitters around 38 miles away.
Antenna rotors aren’t worth it IMHO, because they fail after a year or two. Amplifiers on the mast are also prone to failure. Also unless you’re careful, they can make things worse instead of better. Stick to the basics: an outdoor antenna up high, with good quality cable and as short a run as possible.
Actually, you’d get a lot of the same channels with an indoor antenna.

The current setup. I recently canceled cable and have been trying to use the Dell with Vista and a USB HDTV tuner for a HD DVR, but it is clunky and doesn’t pick up all the local channels (no ABC).
I think I’m going to ditch it and get a TiVo HD that does everything I want.

This is my temporary office/home theater. A PowerMac G5 plugged into my HDTV (45" Sharp Aquos at 1920×1080 — that’s 1080p).
The "3 feet interface" is nonsense. It’s horrible using the computer at that distance. I’m going blind just by typing this. (Front Row works great though)

For those of you who use an antenna knows that we live with horizontal lines or vertical lines that constantly on TV screen and wont let you really see the true colour. Well, that’s an analog antenna.
We recently decided to buy 32” LCD wide screen TV to watch our favorite movies. The TV that I found came with build in HDTV decoder, so I took a gamble and bought a HDTV antenna. Well, I didn’t see much of differences. More pixilated than ever with those images that didn’t come in that well… I ran auto search feature to scan TV stations but nothing came up. We thought we just wasted our money to invest in a new antenna…
We were wrong. There were number of factors that stopped us from receiving HDTV stations. 1. Antenna had to be angled certain ways to receive signals. 2. plug your antenna into digital outlet instead of analog outlet… my bad. Now, we have channels that we never had before, and we lost channels that we had before. We now have “The Tube” channel. I really don’t care for it, but at least we go something we didn’t have.
Another discovery we had was that obstacle in air can be interfering with our signals very much. So much that probably a track that goes by could interfere, and we live right next 93… Compared to me standing up interfere analog signals, I can live with a track going by. I think this was a great buy. We are going to move our antenna closer to windows rather than center of the house to see if we can have less interference…
